President Donald Trump announced that the United States and Venezuela have reached a "historic" oil agreement that would give the U.S. majority control over billions of barrels of oil reserves in the Caribbean country.


Speaking on Truth Social, Trump said the deal gives the United States control of more than 65 billion barrels of proven oil reserves. "This transaction will more than double American oil reserves," he wrote.

What is in the Deal?
- Venezuela will hand over 30 million to 50 million barrels of sanctioned oil to the US.
- The oil will be taken by storage ships to US Gulf Coast refineries.
- The oil comes from onshore storage and seized tankers
